Vinovan

A club for amateur and aspiring home winemakers of North Vancouver

Learn to make Wine

One of the main goals of the club is to share how to make quality wine from the best grapes we can obtain. Members of the club have a wide range of experience in making wine and many of our club meetings are organized around particular topics in amateur winemaking.

Whether you are a seasoned vintner or a casual kit maker, you'll learn something just by attending.

Club Crush

A major event each year is our "Club Crush", where the club chooses a variety of grape to buy from a quality vineyard together. Members place their own orders and participate picking up and distributing the grapes after they are harvested. During out regular meetings we share different winemaking methods and end up comparing the end result in the annual club competitions.

The grapes for the Club Crush typically come from a leading BC vineyard on the Naramata Bench. In past years it has been a Pinot Noir, a Cabernet Franc, a Chardonnay and a Reisling grape.

We also participate in the annual B.C. Artisan Winemakers Association annual Provincial Crush. This gives us access to freshly picked grapes from top California, Oregon or Washington vineyards shipped by refrigerated truck directly to Vancouver. In past years this has been Riesling from Washington, Oregon Pinot Noir and Zinfandel from Lodi California.

Choose your own grapes

Vinovan also well established ties with top Okanagan vineyards and U.S. and international importers, and twice each year members can order fresh grapes from top vineyards in B.C., California, Washington, Oregon, and frozen grapes from Australia, South Africa and South America.
